Samantha A. Melvin, PhD
I am an interdisciplinary researcher studying how policies and systems can more equitably meet the needs of children, families, and educators across early childhood contexts. I am currently an Assistant Research Professor at Erikson Institute.
Guided by mixed methods, critical theories, and participatory approaches, my current work explores how educators define and deliver high-quality care and education experiences for culturally diverse children and families, as well as how policies can meaningfully include home-based child care in system design.
I strongly believe that early childhood programs can be drivers of joy and justice for our youngest learners and those who care for them, and that all caregivers must be valued partners in the realization of this vision.
